The College of Health and Human Services and its six schools have distinguished themselves as leaders in preparing students for careers in the challenging global marketplace. Following are some notable accomplishments of the College as a whole:
- In the past 10 years, College enrollment has grown by 34 percent to more than 3,500 students, making it the second-largest academic unit at Ohio University.
- The College's funding from external grants and contracts, which includes research, tripled in the decade before 2007, climbing to $3.4 million.
- The College houses three of the four graduate programs at Ohio University that are ranked among the top 50 in their fields, according to a 2008 ranking by U.S. News & World Report.
- Departments within the College have an extensive record of outreach services to the campus and local communities:
* Each year, the Child Development Center cares for about 100 pre-schoolers while helping to train about 500 Ohio University students in early childhood education.
* The Division of Campus Recreation accommodates about 1 million visits per year in its facilities while giving its more than 500 student employees experience within their majors.
* Ohio University Therapy Associates records more than 10,000 visits per year by southeast Ohio residents needing hearing, speech and physical therapy treatment. At the same time, it provides clinical experiences to dozens of students in those majors.
* Kids on Campus serves more than 700 academically at risk children each year in its after-school and summer programs.
* The WellWorks fitness and nutrition center records more 70,000 client visits per year while providing more than 80 student employees with hands-on experience within their majors.
