In the School of Public Health Sciences and Professions:
- The School operates a graduate certificate program in African Community Health Services. The program, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States, explores the role of culture in health care and examines the elements of African health care systems and global issues that threaten community health.
- Each year, Associate Professor Tim Ryan leads a study-abroad experience called “Global Public Health: London” that took 10 spirited Ohio University students to the British capital to delve into environmental and health issues as they evolved through history. - The School has established working partnerships with faculties at two universities in the west African nation of Ghana: the University of Development Studies in Tamale and the University of Cape Coast in Cape Coast.
In the School of Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences:
The School has established research collaborations with institutions in China, South Korea, India, Russia, Canada and Australia.
In the School of Human and Consumer Sciences:
Every other summer, the Interior Architecture program sponsors a six-week program to Asia in which Ohio University interior architecture students collaborate with Asian students on various design projects. In the School of Recreation and Sport Sciences:
Each year since 2004, the School's Sports Administration and Facility Management program has partnered with other Ohio University departments on Sports in Africa, an annual conference on the OU campus that focuses on athletics as a vehicle for social, cultural, educational and health programming on the continent.
