OFFICE OF RESEARCH & CREATIVE ACTIVITY

"The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious - the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science."
Albert Einstein, Living Philosophies, 1931

The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) is home to a unique array of research scientists and scholars, representing biological, biomedical, social, cognitive, clinical, environmental, and economic perspectives.  Many of our tenure-track faculty members focus their work on Athens and the region; others have research programs in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Representative work includes the genetic basis of obesity, hormonal responses to physiological stress, muscle biomechanics, exercise physiology, physical rehabilitation, auditory physiology, attention, memory, speech, and language, as well as architectural design, family studies, early child development, food and nutrition, consumer behavior, and health administration.  While diverse, these various areas of study are motivated by a common goal—improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Total extramural funding for educational, clinical, and research programs in CHHS over the past five years was $15,258,944.
