In addition to its academic programs, the School of Recreation and Sport Sciences and the other five schools within the College of Health and Human Services oversee several experiential-learning centers and community partnerships. Division of Campus Recreation
Administered through the College of Health and Human Services, Campus Recreation complements the educational mission of Ohio University by providing a learning-centered environment that promotes the growth of students through involvement in its programs and facilities. The Division operates facilities such as Ping Center, Bird Ice Arena and the Aquatic Center, and its administrave offices are in Ping Center.
WellWorks
Located on the first floor of Grover Center, this fitness and nutritional center serves Ohio University employees and the public while providing opportunities for students in the College to work within their academic disciplines.
Center for Sports Administration
Launched in 2005, this office on the first floor of Grover Center is a resource center for the sports industry. The Center also links the faculty, students and alumni in Ohio University's Sports Administration and Facility Management program.
Atrium Cafe
Located on the first floor of Grover Center, this "real-world" laboratory is open to the public, seats 40 and has a commercial kitchen. The facility provides students in the School of Human and Consumer Sciences experience in every facet of the food-service business, from preparing food to inventory control to catering functions.
Child Development Center
Operated within the College's School of Human and Consumer Sciences, this child-care laboratory on the Ridges nurtures youngsters from age 6 weeks to 5 years in the Athens community. It also provides educational opportunities for Ohio University students students majoring in early childhood education and child development.
Kids on Campus
This grant-funded community partnership, administered by the College of Health and Human Services, operates afterschool and summer programs to Athens County children who are academically at risk.
Ohio University Therapy Associates
Located on the first floor of Grover Center, this facility offers clinical services to the public in speech, language, hearing and physical therapy. It also provides learning opportunities for student clinicians in the the Schools of Physical Therapy and Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences.
