About the Program
Food presentation is our business. Let us help make your special event a memorable occasion. We can assist with menu suggestions and take care of all the details in planning your next on-campus gathering.

We specialize in reception functions for less 100 or fewer guests, and customer satisfaction is our first priority. We will customize menu offerings that provide an inviting display. Our aim is to exceed  customer expectations by providing excellent food at a reasonable cost.

Atrium Café Catering, operated by the Ohio University's School of Human and Consumer Sciences, enables juniors and seniors majoring in restaurant, hotel and tourism to engage in hands-on learning experiences. They build skills and knowledge in food production, management, marketing, organization, leadership and customer service. Catering for special events allows these students the opportunity to apply technical, conceptual and interpersonal skills by emphasizing planning, group dynamics and management team functions. By doing both on- and off-premises events, students gain valuable insight to “real world” catering operations.

This catering practicum class emphasizes the service and presentation of food.
It has been said that we “eat with our eyes.” The way a meal is presented makes an important first impression about freshness and quality. Food should invite customers to sample and savor tastes and aromas.

Catering practicum students are supervised by Assistant Professor Rita Duncan, whose work background includes more than 12 years of catering management and event planning experience.
