About the facility

The Environmental Research Laboratory is housed in E318A Grover Center and is under the purview and direction of Timothy J. Ryan, PhD, CIH, CSP. The basic function of the space is to house the ongoing research interests of the Environmental Health Sciences and Industrial Hygiene faculty.

Capabilities at present include: 

  • EC/MS for the detection for ppb levels of mold volatiles
  • Basic microbiological functions for the study of airborne molds and MRSA colonies
  • Microscopy
  • Industrial safety
  • And associated pursuits

In addition, the lab serves as a secure storage area for certain designated hazardous materials needed for both environmental research as well as EH and IH laboratory classes held in the adjacent teaching lab.
