ABOUT THE SCHOOL

As a home to prestigious and nationally recognized programs, Ohio University  School of Recreation and Sport Sciences is one of the most popular academic units on campus, attracting students from Ohio, across the United States, and from around the world. The School is committed to the creation, enhancement, and dissemination of theoretical and practical knowledge through its distinct program areas. Its programs offer a diverse selection of professional opportunities formulated to meet the career aspirations of its undergraduate and graduate students. Guided by a dedicated faculty, students are challenged in the classroom, and in experiential learning environments to develop the essential skills and competencies needed for professional success.

The School offers six graduate programs including athletic administration (online), athletic training, coaching education, exercise physiology, recreation studies and sports administration. It also has undergraduate programs in athletic training, exercise physiology, physical education, recreation studies, and sport management.

The School has the largest undergraduate major enrollment on campus, due to the popularity of its programs. Hands-on learning opportunities, state-of-the-art labs and community outreach are central to the curriculum.

The School  Sports Administration and Facility Management program, created in 1966, was the first graduate program of its kind and is widely acknowledged as the nation  best.
