Admission

A prospective student must meet the following requirements to be considered for unconditional admission to the School of Recreation and Sport Sciences graduate program in physiology of exercise:
  1. Earned bachelor's degree in physical education, sport sciences, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  2. Minimum overall undergraduate grade-point average (g.p.a.) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Satisfactory Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
The following materials must be received before an applicant is considered for admission:

  1. Completed application, available at http://www.ohio.edu/graduate/apply.cfm
  2. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
  3. Official transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended.
  4. A two-page typed biography that includes information about your background and experience and how they relate to your future career goals.
  5. A resume of your educational background and professional work experience.
  6. Three letters of recommendation using the form that can be found in the following link, recommendation form. At least one reference must be from someone who can attest to your qualifications in your chosen field and one must be from an academic faculty member who can support your ability to produce successful academic work at the graduate level. Please be certain to identify your intended concentration before giving the form to the person providing the reference.

Applications are accepted for summer or fall admission. Typically, applications for both admission and financial aid for the next academic year must be received by March 1. International students also must present TOEFL scores (minimum of written 575, computer 233, and online 79 for consideration) and apply by Feb. 1.
