Entry-Level  |  Athletic Training

About the program
The entry-level (undergraduate) Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) began in 1972. The Athletic Training Educational Program at Ohio University is a rigorous and intense program that places specific requirements and demands on the students enrolled in the program. Our program prepares graduates to enter a variety of employment settings and to render care to a wide spectrum of individuals engaged in physical activity.

Mission
The primary mission of the entry-level Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is to prepare students for a career in Athletic Training. The program is designed to provide the opportunity to develop specified competencies in six domains defined by the NATA Board of Certification's (BOC) Role Delineation Study and the National Athletic Trainers' Association Competencies in Athletic Training. Graduates are eligible for national certification by the BOC and state licensure by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board  and other state regulatory agencies. The program promotes high standards for the practice of athletic training by providing high quality care to the patients served by the staff. The program also promotes development of the profession through research, publications, and professional meetings.
