About the Program
The undergraduate Sport Management program is one of the most popular programs at Ohio University. It prepares students for careers in professional sports, college athletics, amateur sports, youth sports, or corporate positions with a sport-related component. It is one of about 30 undergraduate programs in the United States that have received program approval from the Sport Management Program Review Council (SMPRC).
The program’s curriculum is interdisciplinary in nature with a strong emphasis in business. Many of the required courses are offered and taught by the faculty of a variety of academic departments. A total of eight business and economics related courses have been integrated into the curriculum. All of the faculty members teaching in the program have experience working in the sport industry. The program has an active network of alumni who provide a significant number of job and internship opportunities to our students.
The program leads to a bachelor of science in sport sciences with a major in sport management and a minor in business. Students in the program will also have an opportunity to earn a Sales Certificate - Sport Management from The Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, one of only 13 such programs in the United States.
